Licence and attribution

Use these website components on your own site or in client projects. Configure them here, use the hosted script or download a copy to host yourself.

What you can do

• Use the components on personal and commercial websites.
• Change their appearance, modify the code and host it yourself.
• Include them in paid client work and redistribute the code with its licence and third-party notices.

The credit

Keep the credit within or immediately beside the component. You can style it to suit your site, provided it remains readable and visible. It can link to the relevant tool page or our tools homepage.

You can use rel="nofollow" or rel="sponsored". We do not require ranking credit, keyword-rich links or a site-wide footer link. For non-visual use of the utility code, include the credit in your project documentation or credits.

What doesn’t need attribution

Your exported QR images, .ics files, calendar links, colour measurements and configuration data. Your content belongs to you. The credit condition applies to our reusable code and website components.

Using a tool without the credit

Tell us about your project. We can discuss a separate licence, custom styling or help with installation.

Full terms

The Stuff on Screen Tools Licence 1.0 contains the full grant, attribution conditions and warranty terms. It is a source-available licence with a credit condition, not an OSI-approved open-source licence. Third-party code keeps its own licence; see the third-party notices.

These terms cover the five website components released as v1.0.0. They do not replace the documentation for the existing Content Effort checker.

Privacy & hosting

The components do their work in the browser. They do not send event details, business hours, colours or QR content to our servers. Loading a hosted script produces a normal request to our hosting provider. Your image host receives image requests, and Google or Microsoft receives event details when a visitor opens its calendar link.

There are no analytics or tracking cookies in the components. You can self-host to avoid requests to our domain. Hosted delivery has no uptime guarantee; versioned files and self-hosting are provided so you can choose what fits your project.
