What we check

Can each app read it

We ask for the page as iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and X do. Firewalls and bot protection often turn them away.

The image

Whether it loads, and whether its size, shape and file weight suit each app. A 2 MB image can show everywhere except WhatsApp.

The words

The title and description each app shows, what it falls back to when they’re missing, and where they get cut off.

What this check can’t tell you

What an app has already saved

Apps keep a copy of a preview for days. After a fix, refresh it with Facebook’s Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn’s Post Inspector.

Pages behind a login

Apps can’t see those either, so they show a bare link.
